Courses and workshops

Garden KnowHow offer a series of courses and workshops on useful topics. Whether you are a beginner or just need to know more about a particular aspect of your garden, our short courses and workshops will answer all your questions.

Our tutors are experienced gardening professionals who understand the needs of gardening students.

Courses are held at various locations within the Chiltern area so please contact us for our Autumn/Winter 2013/14 schedule and fees.

Is an intensive two-day course over two weeks - September or February

Learn to combine plants for structure, form and year-round interest. Design effective plant groupings considering different styles, situations, colours and textures. Create a planting plan and plant list for your garden so you have a clear idea of what to buy and where to plant it to develop a well designed border, not just a random collection of plants.

A one day workshop  - October or March

Take the mystique out of pruning. It is essentially a simple and logical process. You will focus on techniques of pruning and shaping your plants for season long interest. Learn to recognise the four main pruning groups and approach pruning with confidence, knowing when, where  and what to cut.

A four day course over four weeks – November

This introduction to the garden design process covers surveying, drawing techniques, hard landscaping and planting plans. Students will discover the tools, ideas and inspiration to produce a design for their own garden to be used and enjoyed for years to come.

A one day workshop  - September or February

Learn the simple techniques of growing a range of vegetables to enjoy throughout the year. The workshop covers new and traditional methods and crops to get the best results from your vegetable patch whatever the size.

Talks and demonstrations

We arrange talks on various garden topics periodically over the year at locations throughout the area.  Private talks and demonstrations can be arranged for various groups or organisations - contact us for further information.
